Geothermal heat pumps are heating and cooling systems that use the earth’s relatively constant temperature to provide heating, cooling and water heating for homes and commercial buildings.

Sometimes referred to as Ground Source heat pumps, geothermal systems are either open- or closed-loop systems and can be installed vertically, horizontally, and even in an existing pond or lake. The type chosen depends on available land area at the installation site. Closed loop systems circulate water through high density polyethylene pipe buried deep below the earth’s surface, providing cooling in the summer and heating in the winter and up to 70% of domestic hot water. Open loop systems pump water out of a well and through the geo system providing heating and cooling and hot water. Because water is being used as the heat transfer medium instead of air, geothermal heat pumps are four times more efficient than conventional systems and can cut energy cost in half, saving money and cutting back substantially on carbon emissions!

Solar Solutions

Our solar heating systems are designed around Apricus evacuated tube solar collectors and have a number of energy efficient applications. The solar collector absorbs solar energy and converts it to usable heat energy. The heat absorbed by the collector can be used for domestic hot water heating, radiant floor heating, “auxiliary”” heating in forced air systems, or fully independent whole house heating instead of gas furnaces or heat pumps. After the water is heated by the collector, it is stored in a tank or tanks near the existing (back up) hot water heater ready for usage.

Traditional Heating and Air Solutions

In addition to Geothermal Heating and Air Conditioning systems, Engineered Services Cooperative also installs and maintains conventional systems. Regardless of the brand, ESC has the experience and the technology to service your residential and commercial heating and air systems.

Duct Installation and Maintenance

At Engineered Services, we don’t rely on ‘rules of thumb’ or abide to the ‘one size fits all’ philosophy.  We are engineers, first.  And we engineer each and every duct system for maximum performance.

The duct system is as important to your home as the efficiency of the unit (equipment). That’s why we focus on perfecting a room by room design on all new homes and by request for existing homes. A room by room load calculation and design takes into consideration walls, ceiling/roof, floors and window outdoor exposures for each room.

We also consider insulation values, the location and distance from the unit installation, the sizing of each hard pipe (duct) to deliver the conditioned air, the sizing and style of supply vents/diffusers and even the insulation on the duct, for which, we typically use and recommend spray foam insulation.

We use all rigid metal duct for maximum efficiency and even custom fabricate our duct work in our own sheet metal shop.

Once your duct system is engineered and designed, it’s very much like a ‘tailored suit.   It custom fits your home in the most energy efficient way.
